GRAPEVINE WINE BROKERS

Domaine Marc Cameron

Domaine Marc Cameron is located in the Tonnerre region of France, an ancient and overlooked wine region that once supplied King Louis XV. With a passion for winemaking, Marc Cameron, an Australian native and export manager at Domaine Servin in Chablis, fulfilled his dream of producing his own wines in 2005 when he acquired a vineyard plot in Epineuil, just 15 km from Chablis.

Situated on an excellent south-facing slope, reminiscent of the Premier Crus of Chablis, the vineyards of Domaine Marc Cameron benefit from complex soils formed from an Upper Jurassic sea-bed around 180 million years ago. The dominant lime-clay soils are complemented by a unique feature: kimmeridgian limestone, consisting of fossilized oyster shells, which lies close to the surface. This prized limestone imparts a distinct character to the wines of Bourgogne Tonnerre, characterized by a steely, floral bouquet, a crisp and refined flavor, and a notable mineral quality.

In the vineyard, Marc employs organic fertilizers and utilizes small ploughings to stimulate the vines, which are lovingly hand-harvested each year by family and friends. To preserve the mineral freshness of the terroir, fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks, allowing for meticulous monitoring of the wine’s development. Marc also explores the use of three-year-old French oak barrels previously employed in Meursault and Chassagne, aiming to impart subtle structure to the wines without overpowering them with new oak.

"If you have perfect grapes you will have a great wine."
