Domaine L’Epicourchois, led by winemaker Luc Percher, is located in Cour-Cheverny. With a dedication to organic and biodynamic viticulture, the estate received certification for both in 2013 and 2019 respectively. The winery embraces minimal intervention winemaking, allowing the indigenous yeasts and the grape varieties’ natural expression to shine.
One of the highlights of Domaine L’Epicourchois is the age of the vines, with an average of 50 years for the Cheverny blanc and rouge. The Cheverny blanc stands out for its unique composition, with 40% of Menu Pineau, an indigenous variety, instead of the more commonly used Chardonnay. Additionally, Luc Percher’s Cour-Cheverny Romorantin vines, though small in parcel size, are exceptionally old, possibly reaching 100 to 120 years.
The vineyard spans 9 hectares and features an array of grape varieties, including rare and modest ones like Romorantin, Menu-Pineau, Gamay Fréaux, and Chaudenay. Luc Percher is deeply committed to preserving this biological heritage and employs practices that prioritize soil maintenance, organic and biodynamic agriculture, and the development of biodiversity.
The wines of Domaine L’Epicourchois reflect the purity and liveliness of the grape varieties and terroirs. Through indigenous yeast fermentation and aging on lees for 9 to 24 months, the wines stabilize naturally, refine their flavors, and showcase their unique personalities. Luc Percher’s dedication to sustainable practices is recognized and certified by the BIO and Demeter labels, ensuring that the wines embody both the grape varieties and the terroirs they originate from.
