Domaine de Sacy has a rich history rooted in agricultural production. In the 1990s, Gilles and Rose-Marie Millet focused on breeding suckler cows while also cultivating their vineyard. Over the years, they developed a wine that truly reflected their identity. After Gilles’ sudden passing in 2006, Rose-Marie bravely continued to manage the farm and winery with the support of loyal and capable staff.
Throughout the years, the winery has maintained a faithful clientele, which paved the way for a new chapter in 2016. Rose-Marie handed over the reins to her daughter Karine, who now oversees the family estate. Karine carefully tends to the 4-hectare vineyard while also managing the agricultural activities, perpetuating the tradition with a deep respect for the terroirs.
The vineyard of Domaine de Sacy is situated on the clay-limestone hillsides of Sancerrois in the elevated wine-growing village of Crézancy-en-Sancerre. The “Gross Earth” soil, composed of clay and Kimmeridgian limestone, poses challenges after rains due to its high clay content. However, this soil combination offers benefits, with the clay contributing freshness and water retention, while the limestone provides filtration and allows the vines to access water from deeper sources. The result is rich and complex wines with a powerful clay-driven aroma and the minerality derived from the limestone, creating a harmonious balance on the palate.
