GRAPEVINE WINE BROKERS

Hubert Clavelin

The Hubert Clavelin et Fils estate, nestled in the town of Le Vernois, lies at the heart of the iconic Jura vineyards in France. This family-operated vineyard, spanning 30 hectares, holds Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designations in various Jura towns, including Voiteur, Bréry, Château Chalon, Menetru, and Mantry. The Clavelin family, harvesting in the AOC Côtes du Jura and Château-Châlon since 1845, has devotedly upheld a commitment to both tradition and reasoned viticulture for five generations. Their legacy is further marked by their ancestral contribution to Vin Jaune, as the distinctive bottle it is aged in is named “Clavelin.”

After Hubert’s unfortunate passing in 2020, the estate is now co-managed by his sons, Patrick and Christian, and grandson, Romain. Patrick, a spirited advocate for their wines, handles marketing, bringing the vibrant character of their wines to life through his words. Christian, the diligent steward of the vines, oversees their care and cultivation. Patrick’s son, Romain, a graduate in viticulture, is entrusted with vinification. He applies modern techniques, and notably crafted a new cuvée, “Armoni,” a distinct Chardonnay ouillé.

The estate’s vineyards are planted predominantly with Chardonnay (45%), followed by Poulsard and Trousseau (35%), Pinot Noir (10%), and Savagnin (10%). Their substantial annual stock of 3,500 to 4,000 hectoliters is testament to previous generations’ wise management, enabling them to consistently market high-quality wines. Numerous accolades and medals further underscore the exceptional quality of Hubert Clavelin et Fils’ offerings, which encapsulate the rich and diverse character of the Jura region.

"Our cuvées each give you a story, pleasure, and a moment to share."
