Domaine Testut, established by Philippe Testut in 1967 and currently led by Cyril Testut since 1998, is a family estate situated in the heart of the historic Chablis vineyard, which was traditionally defined by the Cistercian monks. The vineyards of Domaine Testut boast an average age of over 50 years, with the Premier Crus and Grand Crus exceeding 60 years. The majority of the vineyard consists of Massale selection, allowing for precise control over production.
The roots of Domaine Testut’s vines penetrate deep into the mineral-rich iodine soil, characteristic of the region, which contributes to the unique quality of Chablis wines. Approximately 80% of their AOC Chablis wines are produced on the Right Bank of the Serein River, between the Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre and the Grand Cru Blanchots. This section of the vineyard is renowned for its mineral-driven profile.
Domaine Testut places great importance on manual harvesting, ensuring the grapes remain intact and minimizing the risk of oxidation. The estate believes that manual harvesting guarantees quality and respects the integrity of the grapes. Vinification is conducted in a traditional manner, respecting the distinctiveness of each terroir, and aging is prolonged to achieve wines of finesse and elegance.
