Birgit Eichinger and her husband, Christian, founded the winery in 1992, starting out with 3.5 hectares of vineyards from her parents’ vineyards. Over time their holdings expanded. Today, fruit is sourced from more than 9 hectares in the best sites of Strass:
Heiligenstein – over layers of volcanic rock, one of the great terroirs of Austria for Riesling.
1. Lamm – at the base of Heiligenstein where volcanic soil mixes with Loess, and which is considered the best site in the Kamptal for Grüner Veltliner.
2. Gaisberg – a high hill of Urgestein standing alone equally superb for both Grüner Veltliner and then at higher altitude, Reisling.
3. Wechselberg – a mix of Urgestein and Loess is perfect for Grüner.
4. Hasel – Loess is the soil here.
Vom Berg is a selection of younger vines from Heiligenstien and Gaisberg. Consistent to the style of all these wines is purity, minerality, and length. All vineyards are Lancon certified sustainable.
